THU Swap, Shop & Donate @Charnwood ACT @ Canberra City Care Community Centre
Dec 14 @ 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

canberra-city-care-logoCanberra City Care is hosting a Harvest Swap, Shop & Donate stall on Thursday mornings from 10am-12noon.

We have over 300 families visiting our centre each week to access low cost food, clothing and refurbished IT equipment, and we’re excited to now have a large community garden that’s just getting underway.

We currently provide our customers with small amounts of rescued produce from local supermarkets that is usually at the end of its life.

Our aim over time is to develop a combination of fresh produce that’s locally grown on the premises, as well as encouraging customers and community members to contribute fruit and vegetables from their own home garden, either as a Swap or a Donation.

All produce will be sold at a very minimal price (unless the customer is doing a Swap), to allow us to make the dollar go further for families experiencing financial hardship, but at the same time raise a small amount of money to maintain the Harvest garden.
We have some lovely high school students from the autism unit at Kingsford Smith sShool who will be coming over with their teachers to run the stall each Thursday.

They’re very excited about the opportunity to be involved in this new initiative:)

SAT Harvest Swap – Community Market @Yass NSW @ St Augustine's Church Hall and Grounds
Dec 16 @ 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
SAT Harvest Swap - Community Market @Yass NSW @ St Augustine's Church Hall and Grounds | Yass | New South Wales | Australia

It’s FREE AND EASY to swap your backyard produce – just deposit your extra fruit, veg and herbs (including seeds or plants) on the table near the entry gate and take some other produce in return.

Stop by and chat about your veg patch too. You never know what you might discover.

Any leftover produce will go to  local community groups.

Note: the market has a gold-coin donation for entry, which raises funds for Yass Rotary community projects.

Virtual Veg Out Gathering @ Online OR Phone

The Details.

Join the Virtual Veg Out Gathering from your veg patch PC, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android from this link: https://zoom.us/j/138878867 (remember you’ll need to click on the link and download the Zoom app before the meeting). Or to join by phone call to 02 8015 2088. Call in from 7:45pm to get your idea/question on the list of talking points for the meeting, Veg Out discussion starts at 8pm.

The Story

A Veg Out Gathering is just people getting together at a veg patch at a time and place that suits them. Some people plant seeds together, others share their extra produce, just sit around and enjoy the company, or water and weed because that’s often more fun together – and there are lots of other things to do together as well.

To help you get started with a veg out gathering and with your veg patch, 100kilos.org is hosting a Virtual Veg Out gathering at 8pm on the first Thursday of the month between October 2017 and March 2018.  ‘Dial’ in, to talk about your ideas for your veg patch and your own veg out gatherings, ask questions and share ideas with other members of the 100kilos.org community.

Talk to you then!
